Fall/Spring First-Year Housing

Students who have been admitted to FSU for Summer or Fall 2026 are eligible to complete this contract. Students who are in a “deferred” or “waitlist” status with Admissions are not eligible to complete a housing contract until they are fully admitted.

Students who are admitted as transfer students will be able to join a housing waitlist starting on the date that the new student contract opens. Housing contract offers will be made on a rolling basis based on space available.

Welcome Window:

The Fall/Spring contract will open on February 25th at 10am Eastern. However, we know that you are busy and may have tests, school events, or family commitments at that time. You have the flexibility to submit the housing contract at any time on February 25th or February 26th to be included in our earliest contract group. All students who submit contracts during these first two days will all be entered into a lottery and will receive a randomized contract number on February 27th.

After the Welcome Window:

If you submit your contract after the welcome window, you will receive a contract number based on the date and time your contract is submitted. Your contract number serves as your "place in line" for receiving on-campus housing and establishes your priority for assignment to any preferences. The contract will be open until there are enough contracts to fill the incoming student spaces, but remember that the earlier you submit your contract, the more options will be available at the time of your assignment.

Contract numbers will be issued in contract date/time order approximately every 2 weeks and will be available on the housing portal once issued.

Activate Your FSUID

To access the contract on the housing portal, you will need to have activated your FSUID. To activate your FSUID, visit my.fsu.edu and click "Activate Your FSUID". This may take 1-2 business days, so this should be done in advance. You will need:

• Your EMPLID as provided by Admissions (a nine-digit number)
• Your date of birth
• The last five digits of your social security number

We also highly recommend setting up your Two-Factor Authentication through Duo Mobile before the contract opens to ensure you can properly log into the portal.

Please complete your Fall/Spring contract before you complete your Summer B housing contract, as we become fully booked for Fall/Spring housing much earlier than Summer. The Summer B contract will be available starting in mid-March. Specific dates available here.

The following are highlights of the terms and conditions of the Fall 2026/Spring 2027 housing contract:

• This contract creates a financial obligation to pay on-campus rent for both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. Rental rates for the 2026/2027 year are available here.
• This contract is binding regardless of room assignment. Most students should anticipate an assignment to a shared bedroom space with a bathroom adjoining another shared bedroom.
• This contract cannot be cancelled for Fall 2026 unless you provide written notice to the Housing office that you will not be enrolling at Florida State University for Fall 2026. If this notice is provided to University Housing by May 1, 2026 and you made a prepayment, you will be refunded your prepayment less a $200 cancellation fee.
• This contract cannot be cancelled for Spring 2027 unless you provide written notice to the Housing office that you will not be attending Florida State University for Spring 2027, OR are studying abroad for Spring 2027.

Your contract will be cancelled and you will lose your original contract number if you do not complete all of the steps below.

Step 1 — Submit the Contract

1. Login to the Housing portal with your FSUID and password
2. Select the "Fall 2026/Spring 2027 housing contract"
3. Follow the steps provided to indicate:
   • Contact information
   • Individuals to release housing contract/billing information
   • Missing person emergency contact
4. Agree to the terms and conditions of the contract.

Step 2 — Within 7 calendar days of submitting the contract, make your Prepayment

Prepayments will post to your account within approximately 1 business day. It will clearly say Housing Deposit, and be a $400 amount. Please be careful NOT to pay the Admissions deposit in error, as the admissions deposit is non-refundable.

1. Click on the FSU Fee Payment site
2. Click "I have a permanent FSUID" button
3. Enter your login information (this will automatically redirect you to the "make a payment" screen in your Student Central account)
4. Select the checkbox next to "Housing Deposit" for the appropriate term (Fall and/or Summer, if applicable).
5. Click "Continue"
6. Continue following remaining prompts to select your payment method and make payment

NOTE: Students with Florida Prepaid Housing benefit remaining: You will be given more information during the contract process about the deposit payment related to your Florida Prepaid.

Step 3 — Within 7 calendar days of submitting the contract, complete your Parent/Guardian Contract Consent form, if applicable

If you are under the age of 18 on the day you submit the Fall/Spring housing contract, you will need to complete a Fall/Spring Parent/Guardian Contract Consent as outlined in the housing contract.

You can check the status of your contract, payment, required forms, and any roommate request on the housing portal.

Only students who will not be attending Florida State University for the Fall Semester will be permitted to cancel their Fall/Spring housing contract.

We recommend you do not sign an off-campus lease if you have already completed a housing contract for Fall 2026/Spring 2027, as you will not be able to cancel it if you enroll at FSU.

To cancel your contract:

1. Login to the Housing portal, if not already logged in
2. Click "Fall 2026/Spring 2027 Housing Contract"
3. Follow the prompts on the page
4. Repeat for Summer B contract, if applicable

Room Type Preferences

You can submit/update your room type preferences on the housing portal as many times as you would like until May 1.

Most students should expect to be assigned to a shared bedroom space with a shared bath that adjoins another shared bedroom.

Updating room type preferences will not change your contract date/number.

If you have a requested roommate, you should ensure that both you and your requested roommate have the same preferences in the same order before May 1st.

When you select preferences, you will be asked to rank several different room types.

Roommate Request

Incoming students who would like to room with a specific individual (must also be an incoming student) will be able to submit a roommate request starting in early March through May 1. Requests must be finalized by the date listed here. Students with a mutual roommate request will be assigned based on the latest contract number of the roommate pair.

Room Assignments

Students who complete a housing contract, pay an admission deposit, and complete registration for orientation by all posted deadlines, will receive more information about housing assignments in early July. Remember that if you mutually select a roommate on your housing contract, you and your roommate will be assigned using the later of your two contract numbers.
