University Housing / Conference Services / Internet

Internet

Florida State University operates on a restricted network where only university affiliates can log on using their account identification. Currently residence halls are not equipped to allow for wireless internet and routers are prohibited based upon Housing & IT policy. Non-affiliates (most of the time conference participants) will be required to set up a temporary account to access the network and must provide their own Ethernet cord

Internal FSU Clients (A&P or USPS employees)

You will directly work with ITS to set up guest FSUIDs for your participant(s). You should start this process 7 days prior to your participant(s) arrival.

For more information about this process click here.

You will need the following information to get an account set-up:

  • In order to obtain this type of Guest FSUID, an FSU employee (A&P or USPS)—also known as a sponsor—must submit a request to the FSU Help Desk on behalf of the outside vendor or visitor.
  • Sponsor must send an email to it-help@fsu.edu
  • Prior to creating this type of Guest FSUID, the sponsor’s identity must be confirmed by the Help Desk. To confirm the sponsor’s identity, the Help Desk must speak to the sponsor over the phone.
  • The sponsor must include the Guest information listed below in an excel worksheet:
    • First Name & Last Name
    • Address, City, State, Zip Code (this can be the address of the residence hall the participant(s) are staying at, which can be found here.
    • Email Address (a current address they are able to check prior to arrival)
    • Phone Number (this can be the main office of the residence hall they are staying at, which can be found here.
    • To finalize the set-up of a temporary account, an e-mail will be sent to the account in which the access has been set up for.  It is imperative that the confirmation e-mail is received and confirmed prior to the start of your camp as computers are not available to finalize internet account set-up.

External FSU Clients (no employee status with FSU)

You will work directly with Stacie Kurlick to coordinate IT set-up.

You will need the following information sent to University Housing 7 days prior to participant(s) arrival to get an account set-up:

  • First Name & Last Name
  • Email Address (A current address they are able to check prior to arrival)
  • To finalize the set-up of a temporary account, an e-mail will be sent to the account in which the access has been set up for.  It is imperative that the confirmation e-mail is received and confirmed prior to the start of your camp as computers are not available to finalize internet account set-up.

If we do not have this information prior to the start of your camp, we will be unable to coordinate internet access for camp participants.
